It's Showtime! Konno Asami Back to Fuel Hello! Project!!

This news is too good to not be documented real time. Incidentally, my boss is not around yet anyways... ^_^ (Special thanks to Anna for the headsup!)

And yes, ladies and gentlemen! Konno Asami who has graduated from Morning Musume last year in July, is back with Hello! Project. After so many speculations of whether Konkon is coming back to showbiz, it's finally official. (^_^)/

UFA has released a comment saying that it was Konkon's wish to rejoin and play in Gatas after she is able to enter the university of Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus. Her first stage for a comeback will be held at Nagoya Century Hall with Hello! Project tour concert in July.

Konkon on the other hand, have commented that "Although I am worried if I am able to balance (Gatas) with my studies, but I am determined to try my best to make it happen. To all the people who have given their support through my entry to the university, I am most eager to meet them again. However, if there is a conflict between Gatas and studies, I wish to give priority to my studies first."

She will be participating in a single, performed by a combination of Gatas Brilhantes Futsal Club and some members from Hello! Project Eggs.

The single will be titled "Nari hajimeta koi no Bell ~ 鳴り始めた恋のBell" (Meaning: The bells of love have begun to ring) and produced by none other than Tsunku. This single will also be the image song for Dralion Cirque Du Soleil circus troupe. This will be the second "supporter song" written for Dralion, the first being "Bokura ga Ikiru My Asia" by the Morning Musume A-Team. I expect the song style would be similar, depending who is doing the song arrangement. It will be released on the 22nd of August.

The line-up are as follows:

NameGroupGatas Tag
Yoshizawa HitomiFormer Morning MusumeGatas☆Spirit
Ishikawa RikaViyuudenFull Throttle☆Attacker
Satoda MaiCountry MusumeUltima☆Register
Korenaga MikiHello! Project EggsMiss☆Dream Maker
Konno AsamiFormer Morning MusumeLittle☆Braver
Mano ErinaHello! Project Eggs
Noto ArisaHello! Project Eggs
Sawada YuriHello! Project Eggs
Sengoku MinamiHello! Project Eggs
Mutoh MikaHello! Project Eggs

Funny though, Konkon is still listed in the Skylark site as one of the graduated members. Are they not going to update that page yet?
Players of Gatas (senior) that are not involved are -> Fujimoto Miki, Tsuji Nozomi and Shibata Ayumi. I can understand why Fujimoto and Tsuji are not involved, but Shibata? Actually, I have my speculations, but that is another story.

On topic, I'm ecstatic! My favourite extracurricular-all-rounder, slow-eater, "My Pace" idol Pon-chan is back!! I was so devastated last year when she graduated, and the feeling of never going to ever see her again is one that I cannot describe. This exciting news is truly an upside event, giving us a break from all those scandals and stuff. What's more, we get to see more of the Hello! Project Eggs in action (Which I hope won't be just doing backup dancing). Looking forward to it!

Another thing.... For those who haven't heard, apparently Konkon has dyed her hair blonde since entering the university. In other words, had become a real Gyaru. We don't have pictures of that yet, but I have been hearing stories from eyewitnesses seeing her in blonde. Let's see how blonde it got, or if she is going to dye it with another colour again. I wonder if she has put on some weight as well....... BUT anyways, I think she should keep the blonde hair, so that she can be inducted into Gyaruru. Now THAT is cool! (*Bites green apple*)

Lastly, some videos for your enjoyment.

Alo-Hello Konno Asami. Yup, she can play basketball too. I'm sure fellow ballers will recognise that is one good lookin' shoot and follow-through~~~! (^o^)/

Tsuji Nozomi Cries while Watching Missed Theater

Slowly coming back to blogging... how could I resist? ^_^

Tsuji Nozomi attended the theater show of "Itsu no hi ka kimi kaeru" at Nissay Theatre in Tokyo, in which she dropped out due to her pregnancy. Before the start of the show, she visited the dressing room, to apologize to the acting leads Kakei Toshio and Kuroki Meisa. Everyone responded with a "Congratulations, Tsuji-chan!", and caused her to weep loudly.

Tsuji proceeded to watch the show from the audience seats. During the show, moved by the performance of Ishikawa Rika and her character's storyline, Tsuji cried again. As the show ends with the curtain call, Tsuji applauded over and over again when her replacement Yoshizawa Hitomi appeared.

Yoshizawa Hitomi Graduates with Smiles... but Not Without Advice to Mikitty

And so both concerts performances today in part of Yossie's graduation have ended. I think it went well without any hiccups. Oricon interviewed Yossie after the concert and here's what it says:

Yoshizawa "Yossie" Hitomi graduated from Morning Musume today at the final day of "Morning Musume Concert Tour Spring 2007 - Sexy 8 Beat" concert. Yossie comments at the graduation interview.

Yoshizawa Hitomi, who lead the Morning Musume members as 4th generation leader, performed in her graduation concert on 6th May in Saitama Super Arena.

At the graduation interview held on the last day of the "Morning Musume Concert Tour Spring 2007 - Sexy 8 Beat", she expressed her thoughts about the concert, just like a good leader. "It was a fantastic live concert, full of happy feelings". And added "In those 7 years membership (with Morning Musume), I was drilled/trained mentally and physically. It was a good environment." with a full smile.

In those 7 years of harsh times, she frankly commented that "I was poor in dancing, have thought of quitting. However, I love Morning Musume. And it was important to me, so I did not quit."

Regarding Fujimoto Miki who is the next leader, she gave this advice: "Warm and kind girl. But since she has a harsh way of talking, but if she surround it in oblaat, she will be a good leader". Followed with a supportive cheer "When the leader changes so will the 'colour'. I think that they will continue to sing good songs."

Furthermore, Yoshizawa who did not shed a tear in the graduation concert says " Although I have made a 'declaration not to cry', right now I have no time for tears. I have to remain cool till the end, because if I cried the other members will say 'You cried!'." And with that last sentence she smiled.

NOTE: In Japanese 'oblaat' means the colourless and tasteless gel-like matter which surrounds pill capsules. This word is used to phrase expressions like "keeping your ideas in oblaat", meaning to work within a defined constraint. Yossie is probably advising Mikitty to be careful with her choice of words when she takes on the task as the next leader of Morning Musume. Man, I didn't know Yossie have such deep words within her vocabulary! ^_^

And Yossie Graduates Today

Yoshizawa Hitomi, currently leader of Morning Musume, graduates today at Super Saitama Arena. Two shows today, one on 2:30 P.M. and another on 6:00 P.M.. The current time in Japan at time of post is 12:00 noon. Only a few hours more.......

Honestly, I don't feel like blogging today. Feeling a bit... down, I guess. I did find some interview stuff 'bout Yossie though. So maybe tonight, I'll post something up. I'll let this afternoon have its moment of silence/rest...... kinda like a funeral, ya know? ^_^

But that's exactly how I am feeling, ever since Yossie announced her graduation on January. Four long months counting down till today, is tiring. Not like she'll be gone forever, I mean, she still got solo work. But, how much attention is she going to get compared to graduated "aces"(namely Abe Natsumi and Goto Maki)? I will be collecting me thoughts and talk about Yossie tonight.

Right now I'm dead tired, and in need of rest. Drove back to hometown on Friday night, for my wedding photoshoot. Spent a whole day doing just that - changing costumes and smiling for the camera. Damn tired.
The weirdest thing - I was thinking of another girl half the time. (Shh~~~ don't tell my wife. ^_^) But in commemoration of that girl, I went through the wardrobe and found the closest match I can. My wife got something that fits the theme....... And so, here's the result =>

Mr Moonlight - Wedding Couple Version.
There's no orange blazer in the wardrobe, so I settled for the white coat. (And no bigger picture, sorry. Don't wanna give you nightmares. ^_^)

This is for you, Yossie. Happy Graduation~~~ (T^T)b

Tsuji Nozomi Exits from Theater, Yoshizawa Hitomi Substitutes

Following up with yesterday's news of Tsuji Nozomi dropping out of the theater performance, it is confirmed that Tsuji's condition was a case of acute gastroenteritis (bacterial infection of the gastro-intestinal area). Think stomach ulcer or gastritis but worse. Coupled with vomiting and frequent stomach cramps, and you'll have hell on earth. Believe me, I know... my wife's had it twice within the last 12 months.

Apparently, Nono had complained to the agency that she's not feeling well for the past week. After she was diagnosed with the condition, it is advised that she required 10 days of rest and medical treatment, and thus unable to participate in the theater performance. She is also unable to make it for the Tsuji Nozomi Fanclub event on the 28th and 30th. Currently she is recuperating at home.

Yoshizawa Hitomi will be stepping in, in place of Nono's role in the upcoming theater performance. The play starts next month. And since it was a double cast with Rika Ishikawa, Rika will be playing the role from 4th onwards, replacing Nono on the 7th, 8th, 10th and on the 14th. While Yossie will take over from the 13th onwards, replacing 7 of Nono's remaining performances. Good lord... what a HECTIC schedule!

The agency are accepting all requests for reimbursements of tickets due to the casting change.

Furthermore, Yossie's dinner show with Satoda Mai on the 24th and 25th on May will also be postponed.

I wish Tsuji Nozomi a speedy recovery, and may God watch over you.

......... but not without a few observations, I've been thinking.....

Why was Yossie chosen? I mean, I'm excited that Yossie's the substitute. BUT when considering the height, voice and acting ability.... the differences between her and Nono is way too many. Takahashi Ai would have been a better choice. We've seen her perform on Ribbon no Kishi, she'll do fine. BUT UFA have to go out of their way to push Yossie to act right after her graduation day, and postponed her dinner show schedules. Probably have delayed the schedule of her solo single or whatever new unit the agency have in store for her.

Was Yossie chosen because her graduation event is recent and therefore have more value to attract more patrons? No, that's not it... the tickets have been sold already.

Then why not Ai-chan? She's has something else lined up for her on May? Something BIG?
Maybe, because Ai-chan is still part of Morning Musume, while Yossie will be a solo act by then, therefore may have more schedule time compared to Ai-chan........

........ Sorry for the monologue, just typing along as I think..........

Back on topic..... Yossie's comments:

Due to my graduation on 6th of May, the practice period has become short. I will give my very best with all my might, so as not to inconvenience the co-stars and other related personnels.

Tsuji Nozomi Down with Illness, Drops Out of Theater

Source from Daily Sports Online

Translation:

Tsuji Nozomi who was scheduled to appear in a musical stage "Itsu no Hi ka Kimi Kaeru" ~ "何日君再来 イツノヒカキミカエル", is forced to drop out of the lineup due to health problems.

Tsuji was double casted with Ishikawa Rika to participate in this play, that tells the story of tribulence based on the life of the late Teresa Teng, a young singer who made her debut after a substitute stint. Yoshizawa Hitomi is being considered to stand-in for Tsuji.

It was not made clear as what the health condition was, but a related personnel revealed that Tsuji was on painkillers, in order to participate in the launch event yesterday for the newly formed unit "Gyaruru" in Tsuchiurashi, Ibaraki prefecture. Since the theater includes many intense action scenes, it was decided that she should not participate.

After Tsuji's pledge to start on a new beginning, following her partner in W(DoubleU) Kago Ai's (19 yrs) 2nd smoking scandal and termination from the agency, she had to retire from stage with regret.

Tsuji have also dropped out of the Hello! Project Sports Festival in 2003 during the 1500m dash, due to hyperpnea syndrome (abnormal increase in the depth and rate of breathing; hyperventilation). Also, due to a leg injury in a concert July last year, she had to miss all performances that follow.

Damn... Why NOW of all times? Please get well soon! I wish you speedy recovery, dear Nono!

Yossie Birthday OPV

Welp... I did it!

Video Link

It's only a simple slideshow of UFA official pictures, featuring Yossie from her debut up till today. Used Yossie's solo song from the "Sexy 8 Beat" album "Sono Deau no Tame ni".

Youtube is being strict these days, so I hope that they don't take down the video... and my entire account with it.

The guitar video? Oh... well, that will have to come in another day. (^_^)/

Enjoy!

Happy 22nd Birthday Yossie!

In case you didn't know it's 22nd birthday for current Morning Musume leader, Yoshizawa Hitomi!

Happy Birthday to you, Yossie!

I have two things lined-up to do in commemoration of this happy day - a Yossie OPV and a instrumental guitar song for Yossie's solo "Yoshite, yoshite".

Unfortunately, due to lack of time, I am unable to get it up by midnight yesterday.
Will see if I can manage to finish it up before the day is over tonight. *sweats* (^_^;A

Also I have a couple blog drafts in queue in which I hope to publish by Friday. Wait a minute... isn't tomorrow FRIDAY?! Oh, man..... (T.T)

.....But anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Morning Musume Performs "Kanashimi Twilight" on Music Station

Morning Musume performed "Kanashimi Twilight ~ 悲しみトワイライト" in Music Station live. I must say that I enjoyed the song and the performance overall. But... Gaki-san's hairdo is just... not right. (-_-;)
And the outfits looks like a rehash from "Roman ~MY DEAR BOY~" design.

Video Link

One thing that is just too obvious - Yossie is heavily highlighted in the entire performance. The dance formation put Yossie right in the center at most times. Or more accurately, in HTML terms "absmiddle" (absolute middle). Did the hosts talk about Yossie's graduation during the interview segment? And therefore gave her lots of screentime? Or maybe was it executed on the request of Morning Musume's agency, to prominently feature Yossie, as a precursor to her solo career later on.

I have a feeling that when Yossie goes solo, her genre will be J-Rock, like Aikawa Nanase.

This will be the last single for our beloved Yoshizawa Hitomi as a member of Morning Musume. *sniff* (T^T)

Jyun Jyun and Rin Rin TV debut on Hello! Morning

Finally! Managed to download yesterday's Hello! Morning to view. I must say that Mikitty's hobby searching programme pretty much took the spotlight. I was laughing away non-stop there. Definitely a treat for the "Miki-sama" type of fans. Also it happens to be the last episode for Hello Pro Channel... due to the airtime cut, presumably. And the last Haromoni performance before the airtime cut will be GAM and their latest single "Lu Lu Lu". Absolutely leg-o-licious! Love the constant patting of the behinds between the two. *nods* (^o^)/

Next week will be a recap episode, airing the past memorable scenes of Hello! Morning. PLUS, Haromoni games between the ex-Momusu and current Momusu members. Good God, it's going to be a blast to hear Marippe scream again~~~! ^_^

On topic then. The uploaded screencaps and clips here and there pretty much gave away the anticipation about Jyun Jyun and Rin Rin (this must be the n-th time I'm typing Jyun Jyun Rin Rin Jyun Jyun Rin Rin here... maybe I should use JyunX2 or RinX2 next time) joining Morning Musume as 8th generation "exchange students" members.

Hello!Online has upped the vid on Youtube, of the announcement part only for viewing, which is good cos' most of everyone is more interested to see that 5-minute segment only.

You should read the comments in the news clip on H!O. Most have been on the favourable side.

In summary, it's not much different from what I highlighted in my previous post. Tsunku had called in Jyun Jyun and Rin... ugh... there must be a shorter way to type their names, but it would be funny to create a nickname for another nickname....... aaaAAAANYways, Tsunku called the girls in and presented his decision via VTR monitor. The girls, of course, shed tears of joy over it. And it's clear at this point, that Jyun Jyun cannot speak nor read Japanese. In fact, Tsunku's message on the monitor had CHINESE subtitles on it. Heh! ^_^
This makes my translation MUCH easier... I'm better in Chinese compared to Japanese (^_^)v

He said in the first VTR to the girls, that "I can sense future potential and the hardwork that you have put up since coming to Japan, and the ambition to expand to the Asian music market. This could be a turning point in your lives, and for that I have had made a decision to put you in a important position - to include you as part of 8th generation intake as exchange students within Morning Musume.".

After that, he broke the same news to the Momusu members who were called in at short notice, and of course all hell broke loose... err... or something to that effect. We weren't given much footage of their reactions. They need time to digest that.

Yossie was asked to stay behind for another message from Tsunku - Yossie, although graduating on May, is appointed with a special role to help the new girls to blend in with the current Momusu smoothly. She was asked to meet the new girls in person, before the others do, to establish first communication and prepare them for meeting the rest on the next day, with a good atmosphere. And her reaction was, as you know, "EEEHHH~~!!" ^_^

The rest of the girls read about the news on a bus. Comments are as follows:
Gaki-san: "(Special Skills) Guitar... and Emcee!?"
Sayu : "yeah... she's tall!"
Reina : "That's the name!? Only two words...!?"

The first meeting will be aired next week, AND a secret behind the decision up till the inclusion of the new girls. Another one?! Boy, Hello! Project is up to a good start this year, isn't it? Surprises after surprises everytime...

EDIT:20/03/2007 10:35A.M. - Hello!Online has the translated transcript of this Hello! Morning show. Bit different from my understanding of the show. Perhaps I have mistaken a few things. Heh! ^_^

Yoshizawa Hitomi's Brother - Goodbye and Closure

Just a little update on Yossie's case so I can move on.

Reportedly, the wake for Yossie's brother Kouta was on the 17th January. In addition to Yossie's parents, over 300 other people turned up, consisting of relatives, people from Yossie's management office (UFA), classmates from school(who wore school uniforms) and friends attended the wake, to pay their last respects, to the image of Kouta's smiling picture...

I'm sure our strong Yossie will be fine.

Yoshizawa Hitomi - The "True Professional" Musume *UPDATED*

Date Published: 16th January 2007, 10:29 a.m.
POST UPDATED.
Delayed post. Was busy at work. Apologies to those waiting for the update. Have included the translation from Nikkan Sports news. Scroll down to view or click here.. But first....

... While we have read nothing but praises from the news, I have read from somewhere else where some fans have expressed discontent, lashing at Yossie's decision to participate in the concert, and neglecting her family at this hour of grief. Some even added that probably the relationship and family ties with her own family had changed, because of her prolonged absence from being with the family.

Now, I have no right to change opinion of these people. For those reading this, who have that same opinion - please, hear me out...

Over the years, yes, we keep hearing rumours and stories about Yossie's unhappy relationship with her parents and stuff, .... but that's just what family is like. There's always fights, there's always bad times. But one thing's for sure that is common among the Momusu members and they have mentioned it many times in interviews - they find peace and a place of solitude within their own family, repeatedly quoting "there's no place like home".

For those still in doubt, it is reported by Nikkan Sports news that Yossie DID return home in time to attend the funeral. PLUS the wake and other ceremonies as well.

Please continue give Yoshizawa "Yossie" Hitomi the best support you can. She needs it and feels it right now, more than you ever know. ^_^

Here is a forum is dedicated to Yossie (You will need to sign up) - Hitomi_Heaven.

Yesterday's Hello Project 2007 Winter Wonderful Hearts Otome Gocoro concert that is held today on the 14th January at Osaka. 「ハロー!プロジェクト2007 Winter~ワンダフルハーツ乙女Gocoro~」 was over, went really well. Yoshizawa Hitomi displayed the ultimate poise of a professional in the music biz - Did not cry and did not mention about the accident, gave her best with smiles all the way.... I'm so proud I'm going to cry right now... (T-T) ~~ Yossie! Yossie! ~~. Yossie never let us down, but I know we will offer our best support to her as well... (^-^)/ Cue-in "Aruiteru"

I'm in the office working right now, cannot translate the news clips yet. I'll do it when I get home. In the meantime, you can read the news and other links below.

You will find some news about the Morning Musume 10th Anniversary Team in there in the Japan Zone site (in English) as well. Yes, Morning Musume are supporters..... yet again. This time for the Dralion. The Morning Musume 10th A-Team (Yeah, I'll call them the A-Team from now on) is a "special supporter", not official supporter.

Yossi's a True Pro

Morning Musume leader Yoshizawa Hitomi (21) is a true professional. Yesterday, she made a scheduled concert appearance with the dozens of other Hello! Project members despite the recent tragic death of her younger brother. The 26-song set went ahead as planned, with the pink-clad Yoshizawa making reference only to how sad she was about her planned "graduation" from Morning Musume in May. She is currently the longest-serving member of the group, having joined in 2000. Word of her personal tragedy had spread among the 2,400 fans at the Osaka Kouseinenkin Kaikan hall, and they shouted their encouragement. But reporters were told that she would not be answering any questions about the tragedy after the concert. 16-year-old Yoshizawa Hirota was killed in a traffic accident last Thursday.

Morning Musume Yossie Finishes Singing Without Tears

Morning Musume Yoshizawa Hitomi's (21 yrs old) brother Yoshizawa Kouta (lived 16 yrs) who died from traffic accident, appeared as sheduled for the Hello! Project spring concert on the 14th at Osaka Kouseinenkin Kaikan hall. Initially the management office had considered to cancel, but she expressed her participation on the 13th. In the end, finished her singing without tears. Approximately 10 minutes after the end of the show, the troupe returns to Tokyo from the event location, in complete fulfillment of her leader duties.

After the end of the show, the fans did not leave, and while facing at the stage where the curtain has descended, cheers of "Yossie~~!" is heard. All for Yoshizawa, who announced her graduation news, while facing with the sad news of lost brother. It was the return of favor from the Osaka fans. Yoshizawa prepares her return to Tokyo while listening to these voices.

10 minutes after the completion of the 2 night performances, 3 hour and a half of stage, quickly (Yoshizawa) returns to Tokyo where her brother is waiting.

At the start of the concert, Yoshizawa exclaimed with a loud voice. "Yoshizawa Hitomi will graduate at the end of the spring tour. No matter what, we would like to make this concert a big success. Everyone, let's proceed and enjoy it!". Similar to the past performances, repeated her habit of saying "Let's enjoy".
Even while struggling with unfathomable sadness inside, it did not take away her smiling face and the nature of a professional entertainer. Without touching on the subject of Kouta's tragic news, tried hard to show her white toothpaste smile.

Yoshizawa at this day entered the event location at 10 a.m.. According to insiders, she attended the rehearsal on road to performance as usual. As previously agreed with the management office, it is decided/verified to not include the news Kouta's quick demise into the show. Even the members (of Momusu) did not discuss the news. Crying untill the preceding day, even though it is difficult to stand out in public, but in the end (Yoshizawa) rode the atmosphere while standing before the Osaka fans.

At the end of the nationwide tour at 6th of May (Saitama Super Arena), where it becomes the last stage as Momusu, and "keeping it up as leader until spring", just as promised. Ichiro Higuchi who watching over all this (35 yrs old, office worker) was impressed and said "Without any difference, a smiling face just like always. Although unfortunate, she has shown us her energy(power) above all professionalism."

On the same day, Yoshizawa Hitomi returned to Tokyo and attended the wake, funeral rites, and farewell ceremony(burial) inside the capital, at the beginning of the week.

Yoshizawa Hitomi - more news and clippings on Osaka performance

Got more news clippings and news source from the net, about Yoshizawa Hitomi's participation in the Hello Project 2007 Winter Wonderful Hearts Otome Gocoro concert that is held today on the 14th January at Osaka, alongside with Viiyuden.「ハロー!プロジェクト2007 Winter~ワンダフルハーツ乙女Gocoro~」, despite being obviously devastated over the news of her brother, Kota's death in a car accident.

Basically, most contents are basically the same. It's the part where they even included references about "Yoshizawa Hitomi who took over as Morning Musume leader after Mari Yaguchi's sex scandal" that I do not understand. Leave that to the past already, dammit!

In summary, the management office mentions that it is harsh to have Yossie appear on stage under such circumstances, and considering the current emotional state of the family it is better to stop work until she settles down. However, the show must go on, but being unable to contact Yossie to discuss her participation status, they have informed Yossie's relatives to inform her to not force herself.

But Yossie's strong sense of responsibility as leader of Morning Musume, responded with comments like "want to stand up on that stage", "wanting to participate just as scheduled" and "want to appear to the fans in Osaka properly" and announce about her graduation from her own lips. It is these thoughts she is determined of her decision - but that will mean that she will be unable to attend the funeral. And they respected her decision.

Message to UFA and UFW:
Behold, this loyalty and responsibility displayed by Yossie. I implore the management office at UFA and UFW, to better give her some good treatment after her graduation. You will not regret it.

Yoshizawa Hitomi is taking part of concert in Osaka TODAY!!!!

I just woke this morning and found another shocking news. Thanks to WHG and Aqua ~アクア~ for the headsup.

News from Nikkan Sports, states that Yoshizawa Hitomi decided on her own, that she will be taking part in the Momusu concert scheduled in Osaka today after all!

Professionalism? Not only that, my friends... that's courage, deep sense of responsibility, and love for us fans.

What do you think about Yossie's decision?

For me, she has she won my heart all over again... She is probabaly afraid of affecting the work of her fellow members, and many more UFA staffs, promoters and others. Reshuffling members to fill in her missing position would have been a big headache.

But I wonder about the reaction of the fans in that concert. And the psyche of Yossie while she is performing. I imagine at least some amount of changes in the performance listing should be in place. My heart goes out to her...

I'm going for my Sunday Mass now, to say my prayers to Yossie again.

Yoshizawa Hitomi, whose brother, Kota (lived 16 years) died in a vehicular accident, taking priority of her responsibility as leader of Morning Musume decided to take part of the performance in Osaka on the 14th. Considering the mental shock caused, although the management office decided to cancel the show, Yoshizawa personally requested that "I want in". Unable to attend to the funeral of her younger brother, please read about the onstage atmosphere and on "Yossie"'s determination, on the 14th with Nikkan Sports.

Yoshizawa Hitomi's brother dies in a car accident...

Just over a week after Yoshizawa Hitomi's announcement about her graduation from Morning Musume..... this happens.

Included some rough translation from the news clip below:

On the 11th January 2007, Yossie's brother, Kota, was involved in a vehicular accident and died. Apparently he was crossing the street on a bicycle through the pedestrian crossing at a traffic light stop, and got knocked down by a car from his right. Suffered (internal) injuries to the head. He was sent to the hospital by another car but died soon after. He was 16 years old.

The driver that knocked him down was a 20 year old student, and suffered minor injuries himself. The police have apprehended him for further investigation. It was reported that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol, nor does he have a passenger with him. Although he was shaken from the incident, he answered all questions by the police with honesty.

Initial conclusion by the police - the cause of the accident was that driver had ignored the traffic light. But will further interview bystanders and witnesses for more information. Also will check the security cameras for more info.

Yossie have mentioned about his brother of 5 years junior. At times introduced him and her other younger brother (8 years younger) to her radio shows, and events. Also said that although he was troublesome and mischievous (cutting her hair when she was asleep), she said that she's "angry at him at times, but he's still 'kawaii'".

Her brothers, while brought up being referred to as "Yossie's Brother" by their classmates, still they did not take advantage of it to get special treatment. And for that they were adored.

Yossie's work for the day on the 11th was cancelled. Her parents and herself, devastated over the news, did not give further comments.

The UFA staff and management under the shocking news, made no official comments about the schedule of Morning Musume concert in Osaka.

*******************

I have only one thing to say when the news broke: "Fuck..."

Some motorists in Japan are fucked-up idiots. Two years ago, my younger sister and her best friend got knocked down by a car in Japan too... even though they were cycling in a pedestrian lane. (She's recovered now, but bear scars from the accident.) That is why I know how Yossie is feeling right now. Yes, bad luck is bad luck. But some things can be avoided if you can and want to.

You don't know how long it took for me to draft this post. I truly feel for Yossie. My utmost condolences and best regards to Yossie and her family. Will be going to church tonight, and I will send my prayers for her, her family and friends.

Man... It's a curse... I felt bad publishing that post. Will take a break from blogging till... later.

A strange dream on Yossie's graduation concert

Yesterday, I felt better, flu is gone and headache's better. But last night's I had a strange dream, and I cannot stop thinking about it. I had to blog this from office, in case I forget.

I have had many dreams on Hello! Project members before but this one is a bit... strange. Had to share it.

I dreamt that I attended the last day of the Morning Musume Concert Tour 'Sexy 8 Beat', from a 3rd person perspective (Yeah, I'm aware that I was dreaming). The girls were looking stunning in what looked like a merge of Indian-esque "Morning Curry" costume and 2007 Winter concert. I've never been/seen the Saitama Super Arena, but I didn't notice the surroundings anyway. Anyway, I didn't remember how the whole concert went, but I vividly remember the part where each of the members was supposed to give the graduating member a message, following their long time tradition.

Yoshizawa Hitomi was standing at the left side of the stage, wearing the biggest smile while waiting for the comments from her fellow members. First up was Niigaki Risa, looking beautiful as ever. Donned a Puffy-like hairstyle and seemed like she put on some weight, made her look sexy and good to eat. :) Gaki-san holding a mic with her right hand and a note on the other.

She approached Yossie and stood there looking at her with teary eyes for a while. After an age, she spoke (In Japanese): "I have a lots of things to say... but there's something I'd like to bring up." And with that last sentence, she removed her smile and eyed Yossie bashfully. Yossie seemed to sense her hidden meaning, and stopped smiling as well. Gaki-san continued "You DO know what I was going to say, right?". Yossie pressed her lips and nodded, then lowered the mic and asked something non-audible. Gaki-san replied "Yes, that's the one. And about Mako-chan too... Well?". Yossie gave another non-audible reply to which Gaki-san responded with a nod and a soft "Okay...". Then Gaki-san turned and walked to backstage.

Then I heard the MC announcing something like "... Err.... and that was Niigaki Risa's message... so... will the next member give her farewell message?"

Then all the remaining members gathered at the centre. With Michishige Sayumi standing in the middle, the others began to circle around her, skipping and prancing. Sayu then random holds up her finger and points... at Kusumi Koharu. Then Koharu walked up to Yossie, while the others stepped back to the background. Koharu flashed her cutest smile at Yossie, whose mood seemed to lighten up now. Koharu also held up a note and read from it. She expressed her thanks and shared some stories about Yossie, among other things. But halfway through, she crouched down at the steps, and wept. I could see Koharu struggling to regain her composure and hold back her tears.

After that, all remaining members began to approach Yossie, who looked at each of them in return............ then I woke up. Seems like my R.E.M. time is over.

* * * * *

A strange dream indeed, and I don't know what to make of it. I analyzed it for a long time........ and came up with a few reasons:

- Gaki-san and Yossie were never close friends offstage. Never even exchanged mails. Just comrades in Morning Musume. In fact, I don't recall many televised interactions between the two. Maybe somewhere in the midst of it, I assumed that Gaki-san may be harbouring a hidden feelings towards Yossie, secretly. Good or bad feelings? Romantic feelings perhaps? I don't know... (Note: Gaki-san's solo rendition of "Koe" at Hello Pro Hour was playing in the background at this point... ^_^)

- The mention of Mako-chan (Ogawa Makoto)? I don't know either... I admit that I still feel lost over the sudden leave of Mako-chan. Probably that was to represent my suppressed sadness over the news. Really, Yossie should have given Mako-chan more attention back then.

- Koharu?... Why not Kamei Eri? Why not Takahashi Ai? Perhaps, subconsciously, I have started to have stronger feelings towards her... please, God don't let this be true...

- Finally on Michishige Sayumi... I know why. Honestly, she have slowly moved up my ranks within the Morning Musume. Even have a drafted article about her in which I will post up later.

..... You know, I should keep a dream journal. In case, I dream of anything else... ^_^

Yoshizawa Hitomi Graduates from Morning Musume

It's official. Yoshizawa Hitomi will be graduating from Morning Musume on May 6th 2007 at the end of "Morning Musume Concert Tour - 2007 Spring ~ Sexy 8 Beat ~ " (モーニング娘。コンサートツアー2007春~SEXY 8 ビート~) in Saitama Super Arena. Fujimoto Miki will succeed the position of leader, and Takahashi Ai as sub-leader.

I got some news on this earlier on, but kept it aside, labelling it as rumour until I can confirm this information. Even drafted an article on predicting the next 3 possible graduating member in 2007. (The other two was Fujimoto Miki and Takahashi Ai; And if all 3 members graduated, suggesting Niigaki Risa as the upcoming Momusu leader)

Later on, the announcement was made public in Hello! Project Official website.

It's strange, only a while ago, I was discussing on the possible routes that Yossie can take if she ever graduates. I'm not entirely shocked. Perhaps in writing that article, it has prepared my mind well on accepting this news (Now you know what I'm going through while writing that). In fact, I'm excited and happy for Yossie. However, it seems that Tsunku is throwing all my ideas away, by stating that Yossie will not only participating as a solo artiste under the Hello! Project banner, she will be a part of a new group unit. He added that various opportunities will be scheduled for her to take on.

With this graduation, Yoshizawa Hitomi will be the last of the 4th generation member to graduate, and has set the record as the 3rd longest serving Morning Musume leader of 2 years and 1 month, and second longest Morning Musume member with 7 years. (Iida Kaori was the longest serving leader at 3 years and 8 months, and Momusu member of 8 years) [Update: Thanks to Faramir's comments]

Yossie has been loyal to Morning Musume for so long already, and her time has come for her to move on. I am most interested to see what the future holds for our dear Yossie.

I'm intrigued to see if Morning Musume will turn all sukeban under the leadership of Fujimoto Miki. Poor Mikitty, she must be really sad to see her best buddy leaving the family now. Looks like Mikitty will be around for a little while longer, and Takahashi Ai won't be graduating soon either. It's time for a new era. Let's wait and see if Morning Musume will embark for another image reformation again.

Additional side note: You know, after a while it's a surreal feeling reflecting on the fact that Yossie won't be around in Momusu anymore. At this moment, "Mushoku Tomei no Mama de" was playing on the background while I am proof-reading this post for mistakes. Though I mentioned that I was happy for Yossie's graduation, I can't help but feel a tinge of sadness, while listening to the lyrics. Also noticed that this song which was sung by Yossie, Mikitty, Ai-chan, Ogawa Makoto and Konno Asami, other than Mikitty and Ai-chan, all other members will not be around come May 2007. An unintentional goodbye song? A Rainbow 7 Curse?? I will never listen/look at this song the same way I always do anymore...

I do not posses a degree in Japanese Language, but with what I studied before, here are the loosely translated comments made by Tsunku and Yossie. Hope this helps. (The goddamn 'blue screen of death' happened while editing, crashing my PC while i'm updating and I have to redo everything again. Seems like even my PC has gotten all moody over this news... )

Tsunku's comment:

To all fans and related parties.
Sincere thanks for all your support all this time.
We wish you our best regards, with the beginning of this new year.

This day, we would like make an announcement with regards to Morning Musume's Yoshizawa Hitomi.
It has been decided that Yoshizawa Hitomi, who joined at April 2000 as 4th generation member, will graduate at the last day of "Morning Musume Concert Tour - 2007 Spring ~ Sexy 8 Beat ~" that will take place from March till May of 2007.

In this 7 years, beginning from Morning Musume's style reformation period, natural funky singing ability, rhythmic dancing that displays athletic ability - with these, she has shown her unique character/personality in Morning Musume.
She has perfectly carried out this role and in her skills.

We think of it as "Graduation with satisfaction". It is with our expectations, that we can hopefully extend this personality after graduating from Morning Musume. And with this personality, we believe a new Hello! Project *wave/wind will begin.

After graduation, (Yoshizawa) will continue under the Hello! Project banner, doing solo works and participating in a new unit - challenging in various chances given.

After Yoshizawa Hitomi's graduation from Morning Musume, Fujimoto Miki will succeed as leader, and Takahashi Ai as sub-leader.

Presently, with consideration for the success of Morning Musume's concert tour this spring, in becoming one with the member's performance, we ask that everyone to give your best support and cheers.

2nd January 2007 - Tsunku

Yossie's comments:
I, Yoshizawa Hitomi, will graduate from Morning Musume on the last day of Morning Musume concert tour this spring, at the Saitama Arena on 6th of May.

After graduation, will be active as a member of Hello! Project.

From now onwards till May, as leader of Morning Musume, will continue to give my best as usual.

A Way Out for Yoshizawa Hitomi

Is there life after Morning Musume for Yoshizawa Hitomi?

Graduation is inevitable. Some day Yossie will have to break away from Morning Musume and start a solo career of her own, depending on UFA's plans of course. Right now, with so many kaisans and graduations happening this year, UFA is literally hugging her legs, begging her not to leave. But naturally, when it is her time to go, we have to start wondering if she can do fine by herself.

Currently, the thing that the media and the fans are concerned about Hitomi Yoshizawa is her tremendous weight loss, to a point that she looked too skinny and anorexic. Also concerned if Yossie can find a place in the entertainment biz other than celebrity sports, namely futsal. Ikimasshoi had covered this article.

I meant to write something about this long time ago, but I have nothing to counter with, except with my undying love and support for Yoshizawa Hitomi of the Golden Age 4th Gen Morning Musume. But now I do have some ideas, and it will be explained below.

In summary, Yoshizawa Hitomi or Yossie has been a favourite among fans. While she is not commended for her singing and dance, she was favoured for her outgoing personality and humorous character, and is admired especially by female fans. Within the Hello! Project, she is also most popular among the girls, which many have cited that if Yossie was a boy, "she" would be the perfect partner.

Yossie had gone through many transformation from childhood to adolescent, and from her debut in entertainement biz with Morning musume till now.

However, the sudden departure of Yaguchi Mari, the responsibility of a leader have fallen upon the shoulders of Yossie, and many have wondered if she was up to the task. I find that she took up the job rather well, cos' soon the fans forgotten about Yaguchi's scandal, and looked forward to young breed of Momusu under her leadership.

Time went by, with her active and grueling schedule of juggling between futsal and Momusu, Yossie had lost so much weight people are starting to worry for her. Tabloids had speculated all kinds of reasons for it. Health problem(anorexia), break-up with boyfriend, eating-disorder, over-worked... etc.

The news article mentioned above speculates that after our Yoshizawa Hitomi's graduation from Morning Musume, she has no where to turn to, other than futsal or any sports related work.

I think that's just a bit too narrow-minded. There are many possible ways Yossie can branch out other than sports.

Music Career
Skinny is not necessarily anorexic... in fact it's a body I know many girls would die for. "Skinny girls" or "Anorexic girls" can make it just fine in the mass media of Japan. If UFA can establish the right contacts, make the right strategies, Yossie can still perform as a recording artiste.

Take Hayami Kishimoto for example

I cannot help but notice the similarities between the two, not only the skinny arms and bony shoulders... it's the overall look. I swear, if Yossie goes Jpop, this would be a good preview on how she would probably look like.

Of course, Kishimoto is nothing like Yossie in person, but that's where Yossie can differentiate herself. I find that the one-time best friend and partner of Goto Maki can do well, if opportunities are given.

By the way, if you like Hayami Kishimoto, Japtard has two posts for your enjoyment here and here.

If Jpop is not Yossie's cup of tea, then there's always Hip Pop. And the best example would be Amuro Namie, Japan's self proclaimed Queen of Hip Pop.
Cannot picture Yoshizawa Hitomi in Hip Pop style? Here's a vid of Amuro in "Momusu Wonderful Hearts Land 2006"-like costume...

Video link here
There's also Pop Rock too. Otherwise, sticking to Jpop is just fine.

Another example would be Hitoto Yo, skinny too, but excellent voice and singing. Yossie cannot match with her of course, but if UFA is willing to invest their time and effort, she'll get somewhere close. Even, cutie-voiced Matsuura Aya is able to take a 180 degree turn to a mature-type singing and style now. So why not?

As you can see it's not impossible to be skinny, and yet be appealing to the mainstream at the same time. With the right song selection, packaging and promotion, she'll make it.

Acting Career
Yossie is not known for her acting, and had not been assigned to any major soap dramas before. Other than the time where she was casted as the lead role in a mini-drama, and another where she was casted as a receptionist. (Can't remember the titles now...) However, she is well known by all for her hilarious characters in Haromoni Skits. (Especially love that John Travolta and Ganko Itetsu ^_^) But Yoshizawa Hitomi has the looks of a jouyuu or actress. I especially loved how she looked with long hair during the Rainbow 7 time. This boyish and tomboy girl is deceivingly lady-like and beautiful.

With this kind of look, I think she can play some good J-Dramas.

Theater
If all else fails, there's always Takarazuka Revue.

I was SO mesmerized by Yossie's performance in Morning Musume's Ribbon no Kishi musical. I never knew that her vocal range can be so wide, and yet so solid when hitting the high notes.
I don't have the article clip with me now, but I remember reading that the reviewers were very impressed and praised Yossie and Miki's performance on the musical, especially their duet scene, adding that it was one of the highlights of the show. I get goosebumps everytime I recall that scene in my head. Mikitty is being Mikitty, her voice and style didn't change in Ribbon. But Yossie's different, and her portrayal of the Prime Minister character was great. (Her lower jaw still shifts to the right when she sings though ^_^)

Behold the next star of Takarazuka Revue...

We all know Takahashi Ai loves Takarazuka, theater and broadway. But she lacks the height. Limiting the type of roles that she can play, But Yossie on the other hand is different. Other than height, with her poise, confidence and singing she can be big in the theater scene. Probably it doesnn't suit her personal preference, I don't know. She probably would find the harsh world of theater too much for her to take, but we know she loves challenges and enjoys role playing, so it might work. She is the type that when put under a costume or guise, her mind warps into character. I think that Yossie can play any otokoyaku(man-role) in Takarazuka theater convincingly. Plus it is well known that Takarazuka actresses are popular and admired by the female fans, so Yossie may just fit right in.

To sum it up, Yoshizawa Hitomi can potentially have a great solo career after she graduates (Unless UFA messes it up). But for now, let's just enjoy watching her as the big mommy (or big daddy , if you will) of Morning Musume.

Morning Musume makes history

Taken from the sources listed below, here is a rough translation-summary:

With the No. 1 single achievement of Morning Musume's 31st Single "Aruiteru", Morning Musume has now officially surpassed Pink Lady to have the most No. 1 singles in Japan in the female group category. In addition to that, Morning Musume is also crowned as the female group to have the most singles to rank within the top ten - 31 singles. That's ALL singles ever released by Momusu.

Mr Moonlight ~ Ai no Big Band - 2001
Souda! We're Alive - 2002

This also marks as the first time for 6th generation members - Fujimoto Miki, Kamei Eri, Michishige Sayumi and Tanaka Reina, and 7th generation member - Koharu Kusumi, to achieve the No. 1 single since joining the group. Furthermore, this means every member of Morning Musume, past and present, have achieved No. 1 single at least once.

Yoshizawa Hitomi (current Morning Musume leader) comments that she was happy with the No. 1 single achievement, but is very surprised to learn that Momusu is now the female group with the most No. 1 singles, and she thanks for all the fans' support on behalf of Momusu. She adds that no matter what happens, Momusu will continue to move forward, and give their best with singing. She hopes that when the fans listen to the song (Aruiteru) will also move forward with them.

Amazing, isn't it? ^_^
