GAM steals the "sexy" tag
Something short and recent before I get back to writing essays.
Kd of Iroiro Aru Sa made an interesting post about the different departments in Morning Musume that appeals to the fans. This is why I love reading her posts - she always think outside the box. Basically, she highlighted some different styles that caters for the fans. Namely The Sexy Ones, The Cute Ones and The Cool Ones. I'll leave it for you guys to read the rest of it.
Currently, the obvious ones that is being pushed with the "sexy image" (or ero-kawaii, whichever you may call it) are Goto Maki, and Biyuuden. (I'm not including the PBs here.) Now, GAM is taking over that faction.
.... okay, to be fair, they are TRYING to take over the "sexy" faction. This picture compensated my previous remark about them high socks covering up the legs. That's the same outfit in the PV for the single "Lu Lu Lu". It would excite me even more, if they dance in them. There... I'm happy now. \(^o^)/
Ayaya has lost some weight lately, and looking better than ever. Reminds me of her role in movie Sukeban Deka. And Mikitty? Honestly... I'm growing a soft spot for her for some time already. She's still got quite an attitude, but I like her for her character.
On the "sexy image" part, I don't know how the overall fan reaction/acceptance to where GAM is going. But it will be interesting to see what the UFA will do, if they find that after all the hard work they invested on the image training for Gocchin and Biyuuden bunny girls, and GAM just strides in to snatch the trophy. ^_^

GAM indeed are bringing the sexy. ^^ I think the tour might cement their position, actually.
GAMs approach is different to both V-u-den and Goto Maki, and I think this is what really separates them from both of them under the label of Sexy and why they are taking over the Sexy label.
Maki's recent PVs seem to be all about tits and arse, lot's of stroking and squeezing of her body, but mainly the focus is on her amazing boobs...just watch the Glass no Pumps PV, now it may just be my eyes, but in almost every shot theres one focal point, her chest.
V-u-den, to me at least, come across as your basic girl group when it comes to sexiness, the girls always look good in their PVs but there's generally nothing out of the ordinary and when there is it's done in such a tongue in cheek style, that it turns it adds a cute element to all the sexiness whic in turn tones it down a little, good examples of this are Issai Gassai Anata ni A-Ge-Ru and Aisucream to my Purin.
Where as GAM it's all about the interaction between Ayaya and Mikitty. Their legs obviously play a big part in it, but I think it's all about their relationship and I think for the Japanese this plays a big part in it (although I may be completely wrong as the whole basis of this is on one drunk conversation one night) or it may just be the lesbian thing and I'm way off.
One drunk night down the pub I had a discussion with a Japanese friend about the differences between European/US porn and Japanese porn and which was better. He said to me something along the lines of, European/US porn is OK but there's no emotions in it, it's like watching sport. Having sat down and watched a number of titles he recommended to me (purely for comparative research reasons you understand) I can see what he means, the titles I watched were more story driven, (for one of them I thought I was watching Power Rangers for the first 5 minutes) and even the non story based ones had you getting (in a strange way) attached to the girls in it, but it wasn't like watching sports, the girls acted innocent, shy, naive, occasionally it looked like they didn't want to be there, but then thats all part of the act and the appeal.
Hahaha, I've totally forgot the point of what I was saying...I think it was something along the lines of I agree...I think my mind got side tracked the minute I paused from typing to watch a bunch of Maki's PVs....Also sorry for hugeness of this.
@xacur.... Yup! Ayaya has become really beautiful hasn't she...? She should keep that weight, and not go any skinnier, IMO. ^_^
@Kd... If that's the case, I hope their own concert will come soon.\(^o^)
But they need an album first, I think they can include covers in it if they have to.
@Tom... Good points there.
For me, Gocchin can do what she is doing but she shouldn't go overboard. If her sexy image is suppose to be an answer to Koda Kumi, then her management have to think twice. I agree very much on v-u-den too. About GAM... suddenly, I was thinking whether W would walk down that sexy path as well, if they hadn't got suspended..........
